Aleka Bilan Consulting

Aleka Bilan has been a teacher and school counsellor with international populations for over 25 years, on four continents, including the past dozen years in Asia. Most recently, she was the Head of the High School Counselling Department at Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) in Indonesia, where she spent five years as a comprehensive socio-emotional and college/career counsellor for grades 9 to 12.

 

As a third-generation global nomad and a mother to TCKs -- Third Culture Kids -- Aleka has a personal and professional interest in positively managing transitions. She believes in the power of schools in supporting the development of children, including focusing on their signature strengths. Her professional consulting work includes: facilitating parent workshops on how to manage their own transitions, coaching alumni students entering university and helping international schools build better university transition programs.

 

Aleka has spoken about CCK issues in a TEDx talk and at multiple global conferences, including: the College Board Summer Institute for International Counsellors, the Pre-Conference Institute and summer conference for International ACAC, the CIS-EARCOS Institute in Bangkok, the Global University Counsellor Connect in Singapore, and the Network of Indonesian School Counsellors in Jakarta. 

 

Aleka is a member of NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counsellors) and their International ACAC affiliate (where she serves on the Professional Development Committee). She is also a member of ISCA (International School Counsellors Association) and FIGT (Families in Global Transitions).
